Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. Jacqueline's father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim, a Malaysian. She is the younger of two brothers and a brother who is older. Her parents have moved to Bahrain in the late 1980s as a result of the Lankan civil unrest and hence she was raised in Bahrain. Following her education in Bahrain her family was granted the Scholarship to study at Sydney's University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's diploma of Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. As a lover of all the world of languages and cultures, she took part in the Berlitz school of languages, in which she was able to learn Spanish as well as improve her French as well as Arabic. In addition, she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6, 2006 and was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. She entered television after winning her the Miss Sri Lanka title. The show she hosts, Lanka Business Report, is about business in Sri Lanka. Padukone is her mother was the famous badminton star Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. While still a teenager, Padukone played in many championships for national badminton. She eventually gave up the sport when she decided to pursue a career as a professional model. Padukone is born in Mangalorean origin Her mother language is Konkani. Padukone Village is situated in Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District of Karnataka in India. Prakash Padukone is her father and was a badminton player of international fame. Her mother works as a travel agent.
